Southern Florida Farmed Animal Transition

When she went from farm life to a free life, her heart was thrilled, delighted, and full of joy!

I was fortunate to have experience an idyllic childhood compared to many children. The cow jumping over the moon brings memories of nursery rhymes, warmth, and love.

A Real Cow can live to be 25 years old. These dairy cows are young, but they have known so much physical and emotional trauma in their short life that it will take time for them to find their playful spirit. Please help them to give them that time.

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.

Southern Florida Animal Farmed Animal Transition

For both societal and environmental reasons, the dairy and meat industries are not as profitable as they once were. This is true for small farms as well as for large industrial operations. Our mission is to raise funds to buy land, and where possible whole farms and their animals, from those wishing to transition out of this business as times change. We wish to provide sanctuary to the animals in this system, largely cows, so that they may live out the remainder of their lives without having to go to slaughter. The animals deserve this. Some farms in this area have been family owned operations for generations, and we don’t wish to disparage in any way the heritage and hard work of these farmers and business owners and their families. But because these animals have worth as individuals, not just as commodities, we want to provide them safe haven.

How becoming vegan and advocating for farmed animals became the focus of my life.

My Story

As president of Southern Florida Farmed Animal Transition, Inc. I would like to share with you how becoming vegan and advocating for farmed animals became the focus of my life. It involves an epiphany-a transformational event-that centered around 2 events that occurred to me in my adult life, as I put it together. But, first, let me relate a childhood memory that didn’t come back to me until years later, that probably had an effect also. I have always loved animals since I was a little kid, and like a lot of peoples’ my family had various dog and cat family members over the years. I started riding horses when I was 5 after begging my parents for lessons. The memory event occurred when I was 8 and I was up at the stable in Williamstown, Ma. where I had my horse, Freddy. At lunch I would often go to visit a group of cows that were in a side pasture next to the stable. The cows were comforting to be around, and I would sit there and eat my sandwich or whatever my Mother had packed for lunch.

We are not asking for the moon, just your kind donation.
